logoantiqueEta Sigma Phi will once again sponsor a panel of undergraduate research at the biennial meeting of the Southern Section of the Classical Association of the Middle West and South. The following papers were selected from those submitted to the society:

  • Mason Johnson, Rhodes College, “Behind The Lines: Analyzing Definite Descriptions in Light of Ancient Language”
  • Andrew R. Koperski, Hillsdale College, “Aeneas, Achaemenides, and Augustan Ideal Kingship”
  • Lucy McInerney, Dickinson College, “The Decline of the Golden Age in the Aeneid”
  • John Shannon, Hillsdale College, “Beyond Civil War: The Lurking Evil in Lucan”
  • Emma Vanderpool, Monmouth College, “Oderimus, Mea Lesbia, et Amemus: Martial’s Lesbia”

Prof. David Sick, Executive Secretary of the society, will preside.

The meeting will be held in Fredericksburg, VA from October 16-18.  The ΗΣΦ panel is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.  This panel and a reception are events in the year-long celebration of the society’s centennial.  For more information about the meeting of CAMWS-SS, please visit the association’s website.
