Robert Simmons has been an active promoter of the study of Classics since he received his doctorate from the University of Iowa in 2004. He has organized very popular Classics Days as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. As the new advisor of the Gamma Omicron chapter, he promises to bring similar enthusiasm and vigor to the promotion of Classics in western Illinois.

Victor Martinez studied both Latin and Greek as an undergraduate at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign but has moved, in his career, more into material culture. He is presently teaching archaeology and mythology courses at Monmouth College and the members of Gamma Omicron would like to recognize him for his enthusiastic promotion of archaeology as an important part of the study of Classics.
