Eta Sigma Phi Welcomes the Iota Chi Chapter at Brandeis University

IMG_7123Eta Sigma added its 214th chapter on May 3, 2016, when students at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA completed their first induction ceremony.  The Iota Chi chapter received twelve new members–nine regular members and three graduate students as associate members.  Inducted were Benjamin Poser, Jennifer Du Breuil, Alexander Arad, Spencer Stevens, David Picker-Kille, Kiana Khozein, Ana-Sofia Meneses, Joana Jankulla, Taylor Mckinno, Shaun Sticka, Melanie Harris, and Matthew MacFarline.

James Martin, former president of the Dickinson chapter of Eta Sigma Phi, presided over the ceremony at the Mandel Center for Humanities, and several other Brandies faculty participated.

The academic administrator for the Department of Classical Studies, Delande Justinvil, was made an honorary member of the new chapter for his work in its formation.  Mr. Justinvil is a scholar in his own right.  He is the current recipient of a post-baccalaureate fellowship for research in Bronze Age funerary art and archaeology at Brandeis.

Taylor McKinnon, a rising senior at the institution, was instrumental in the organization of the chapter.  Prof. Ann Koloski-Ostrow will serve as advisor.  Iota Chi plans to begin activities in the fall with an election of officers and a trivia night for the classics community.

Congratulations to all!
